The Structure of the Studio

The Symphony Orchestra

Along with the graduates from the Conservatory, students, too, are involved in the Orchestra and gain experience there. The Orchestra does not only participate in the operatic performances, but also prepares programs of its own and performs at the concerts.

The permanent staff includes 47 musicians. Of necessity, musicians from the best orchestras in Yerevan are invited.

The Komitas Choir

The Choir is well known in Armenia and beyond for its concerts and musical recordings. The Choir, just as the Orchestra, carries out its own concert activity. The Choir is one of the first performers of works by contemporary Armenian composers. It toured in Russia, USA, etc.

The permanent staff includes 30 singers, which number, of necessity, can be increased.

The choirmasters are: Nektar Miraqyan, Gayaneh Khoyetsyan.

The Soloists

The staff is perpetually altering by the newly involved students. The soloists, chosen on competitive basis by the Artistic Board, are the best voices, who have acquired the knowledge, necessary for their participation in operatic performances.

The core cast of 12 soloists is, of necessity, supplemented by student-soloists.

Many of the soloists, who have passed through the "forge" of the Opera Studio, presently succeed on the opera stages of Europe and USA.

The Technical Capacity of the Opera Studio

A big hall with an orchestra pit; holds 320 seats.

A small hall/rehearsal room; holds 60 seats.

Classrooms, cloakrooms and other requisite premises.
