Faculties

Study Departments of the Yerevan State Conservatory

Since 2007, the Yerevan State Conservatory has accepted the credit system of study.

The Conservatory has a three-stage system of study:

  • bachelor studies – 4 years
  • master studies – 2 years
  • postgraduate studies – 3 years (internal) and 4 years (by correspondence)

The Conservatory offers studies in “Musical Art” including the following specializations:

Instrumental Performance including:

  • piano, organ (internal and by correspondence)
  • string instruments - violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, guitar (only internal)
  • wind instruments – flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion instruments (only internal)
  • folk instruments and singing – tar, qanon, kamancha, oud, duduk, shvi, sring, bloul, santhur, bambir, folk vocal (only internal)
  • military conducting (only internal)
Vocal Art including:
  • academic singing (only internal)
  • pop and jazz singing and performance (only internal)
Top Choir and Orchestral Conducting (internal and by correspondence)

Composition (only internal)

Musicology (only internal)

All the specializations are joined in 3 faculties:

  1. Piano Faculty
  2. Orchestral Faculty
  3. Vocal-Theoretical Faculty
Over 20 specialized and general Chairs organize the process of study preparing musicians with higher education in all the classical music specialties, as well as in many fields of folk, pop and jazz music.

The studies in YSC are in Armenian language. For those who don’t possess it, intensive study of Armenian language is provided at the preparatory course, together with special disciplines (6-8 hrs. weekly).

Big groups of foreign students from the same country speaking the same language can also be taught in their mother tongue to facilitate their adaptation.

The annual duration of study in YSC is 10 months, from September 1 to June 30. Details concerning application and study terms, examinations and vacations are available on corresponding pages of this website.
