Examination RequirementsExamination Requirements

Full-time tuition by the following specialties:

  • PIANO
  • ORCHESTRA INSTRUMENTS:
    STRINGS - violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, guitar
    WINDS - flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion instruments
  • FOLK INSTRUMENTS - tar, kanon, kamancha, ud, duduk, shvi, sring, blul, santur, bambir, folk singing
  • VOCAL ART
  • CHOIR CONDUCTING
  • MILITARY ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING
  • COMPOSITION
  • MUSICOLOGY

It is also possible to make an application for any jazz specialty: piano, bass guitar, saxophone, percussions and jazz singing.

Application terms:

from 30 June until 16 July inclusively.
The entrance exams begin on July 20.
The studies begin on September 1.
Study fee - 500.000 AMD annually.

The application form should be accompanied by the following documents:

Secondary education certificate (original), 6 pass photos, reference about the military service, and passport.

The applicants by the all the vocal specialties (including also choir conductors) are obliged to present the medical reference about the condition of the vocal strings. It is possible to get the referral from the responsible secretary.

The applicants by the specialty "Military orchestra conducting" must pass the medical examination at the military office. The referral can be received from the responsible secretary.

Those applicants by the specialty "Vocal Art" who possess good vocal abilities but don't have Topappropriate music education can apply for the 2 year long preparatory course.

Application terms - from September 1 to September 5 inclusively.
Study fee at the Preparatory Department - 200.000 AMD annually.
INFORMATION FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

List of documents required for the entrance exams.

  1. Application to the Ministry of Education and Science of RA.
  2. Secondary education certificate (the translation should be confirmed in the Embassy of RA).
  3. Birth certificate (the translation should be confirmed in the Embassy of RA).
  4. Copy of the passport (the translation should be confirmed in the Embassy of RA).
  5. Medical reference and HIV-infection reference.
  6. 6 photos (3x4).
  7. Reference from the police office of the citizenship country, excluded the Armenians of Diaspora (the translation should be confirmed in the Embassy of RA).

Application terms:

The Ministry of Education and Science of RA starts to accept the applications since August 10 annually.

Deadline for applications:

  1. for the I course - August 25
  2. for the preparatory course - November 15

The applications can also be presented at any Embassy of RA in foreign countries, with the aim of the further sending to the Ministry of Education and Science of RA.

The applicants have to pass the specialty exam and the test of solfeggio and harmony knowledge (for singers - elementary theory of music instead of harmony).

Study costs

Foreign students - 900.000 AMD per year
Diaspora Armenians - 600.000 AMD per year
Armenians from CIS countries - 400.000 AMD per year
Preparatory department:
Foreign students - 600.000 AMD per year
Diaspora Armenians - 350.000 per year
Armenians from CIS countries - 150.000 AMD per year

The studies for full-time students begin on September 1
The studies at the preparatory department begin on October 1

EQUIREMENTS FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The postgraduate studies are possible by the following specialties: all instrumental and vocal specializations, conducting, musicology, composition, accompanying and chamber ensemble.

All the entrants have to pass the following exams:

  1. Specialty
  2. Colloquium
  3. Foreign language (English, French or German)
  4. Computer (test)

Composers and musicologists have also exams in harmony and polyphony.

The requirements for "Specialty" exam are equal to the requirements of diploma examinations of the Conservatory.

The range of questions of colloquium covers the practical matters for the given specialty (i.e., for example, questions from the history of performing art and repertory for performers, orchestration for composers, etc.).

The exam in foreign languages consists of three following matters:

  1. Writing translation with vocabulary of one-page text about music
  2. Conversation
  3. Translation without vocabulary of a short newspaper article

The test in computer knowledge covers some practical elementary questions in computer programs and Internet explorer.

During the "Harmony" exam, entrants continue the given two-bar construction to the prelude form.

The exam in Polyphony requires writing a double fugue on given themes.

Study fee at the Postgraduate Department:

For RA citizens and Diaspora Armenians - 350.000 AMD annually.

For foreign citizens - 450.000 annually.Top
